Description
FRAGRANT FLOWERS FOR HOMES AND GARDENS TRADE AND INDUSTRY
by S.C. DEY
This is a unique publication which contains exhaustive information on fragrant flowers. The title of the book itself is apt to indicate the contents thereof. Botany, horticulture, trade and industry relating to scented flowers have been presented scientifically in a lucid way. Information on many important related matters has been appended with proper classification. The glossary of botanical and general terms has been given at two separate places. Similarly two indices separately for cultivars and general matters have been incorporated for finding out the cultivar in question instantaneously. Such cultivar index is essential as each cultivar appears at many places in different chapters for different uses.
The book is well illustrated with photos and figures, not for mere ornamentation but to reinforce the text.
About The Author :-
Captain S.C.Dey, B.Sc. (Bot.) is a well-known floriculturist and successful plant breeder who has originated a good number of new cultivars of the rose, dahlia, hibiscus etc. through cross-breeding. Amongst them the rose cultivar Martin Luther King has become very popular for its sweet perfume. He has also developed a plumeria cultivar named 'Apurva' which has very sweet perfume. The only climbing dahlia RANI RASMANI has been originated by him by mutation breeding. Capt. Dey has innovated a couple of apparatuses which are an improvement over the conventional ones to extract perfume from flowers.
He is a celabrated author of as many as twelve popular books on horticulture. Five of them in English and others in Bengali. His book DAHLIAR CHAS (Dahlia Culture) in Bengali became the best seller on its release at the Calcutta Book Fair, December, 1990.
He regularly contributes to leading horticultural journals and is considered a veteran flower judge for his participation in judging work in many leading flower shows of the country since 1970.
